Iowa K-12 enrollment declines for 13th straight year

State's districts have 2,792 fewer students than last year
From The Sioux City Journal: Enrollment in Iowa public schools has dropped for the 13th straight year. A total of 474,227 students are attending elementary and secondary schools this year, according to the state Department of Education’s certified enrollment data. That represents a decline of 2,792, or 0.59 percent, compared with last year. The 361 public school districts in the state educate 170,773 fewer pupils than when the state’s K-12 student population peaked at 645,000 in 1972-73.
