"Columbine-type" attack on Pennsylvania high school thwarted

Police arrest 14-year-old boy who allegedly was planning assault.

A 14-year-old student who has been homeschooled the last 18 months has been taken into custody and accused of planning a "Columbine-type" assault on Plymouth Whitemarsh High School in Plymouth Meeting, Pa. In the teen's bedroom, authorities found three homemade grenades packed with black powder and BBs, 30 air-powered guns, modeled to look like real weapons, and a genuine 9mm weapon. Police say the boy's attempt to recruit assistance led to his apprehension.
