From Winnetka Talk: A $174 million plan to renovate and add on to New Trier High School's campus in Winnetka has been rejected. More than 62 percent of those going to the ballot box rejected the request. The project called for demolishing the east and west sides of the Winnetka Campus. Construction would have included 40 new classrooms, eight renovated classrooms, four new science teaching spaces, a new gym and field house, as well as new spaces for performing arts, visual arts, practical arts, the kitchen and cafeteria, library, kinetic fitness and underground parking.
NOVEMBER 2009....from The Chicago Tribune: The New Trier (Ill.) High School District will ask voters in February to approve a $174 million facilities referendum to expand and renovate the district's aging campus in Winnetka. The bond money would go toward replacing the school's cafeteria, built in 1912, and its technology arts building, from 1931. It also would provide the field house with an NCAA regulation-size track, indoor volleyball courts and a climbing wall. A new library, classrooms, furniture and an underground parking facility also are included in the plan.
