Dallas district recommends closing 11 schools

Nov. 18, 2011
System must cut because state funding for next year has dropped by $38 million

From WFAA.com: For the first time in three decades, the Dallas Independent School District is considering closing campuses. Trustees are proposing to close 11 schools--10 next year and one the following year. Spending needs to be cut because the Texas Legislature has reduced aid to the district by $38 million. Targeted for closing are nine elementary campuses: City Park, Arlington Park, Julia C. Frazier, James W. Fannin, Phyllis Wheatley, James B. Bonham, N.W. Harllee, O. M. Roberts and H.S. Thompson; and two middle schools: D.A. Hulcy and Pearl C. Anderson.
