Los Angeles district will revise teaching for English language learners

District also agrees to change how African-American students are taught
Oct. 12, 2011

From The Los Angeles Times: The Los Angeles Unified School District has agreed to improve the way it teaches students who are African-American or who are learning English. The action settles a federal civil rights investigation that examined whether the district was denying the students a high-quality education. The agreement may pose a financial problem for the school district, which has faced multimillion-dollar budget cuts and layoffs over the last few years.
