Detroit Catholic school closes after 85 years

St. Cecilia's low enrollment led to decision
Aug. 30, 2010

From The Detroit News: St. Cecilia Elementary School, one of the oldest Catholic elementary schools in Detroit, is shutting its doors for good. Officials say the school will not open for 2010-11 because of "insufficient enrollment." Cecilia opened Aug. 31, 1925 with an enrollment of 530. The school's enrollment has declined significantly over the past two years; last year, St. Cecilia Elementary had 83 students.
