University of Hawaii gets $60 million for repairs

Aug. 26, 2008
Money will address annual maintenance work, not the system's backlog of repairs

University of Hawaii campuses are receiving $60 million for building repairs, maintenance and upgrades; most of the money is allocated for the flagship Manoa campus. The money is less than the $90 million requested by the statewide university system. It will help with the system's annual repair and maintenance requirements, but it's not expected to affect the university's growing repair and maintenance backlog. The 10-campus system has an estimated $350 million backlog of repairs and maintenance.
