School is expanding its main classroom facility

From The New Orleans Times-Picayune: Loyola University in New Orleans is cutting down a century-old oak tree to make way for the expansion of Monroe Hall, which houses 40 percent of all Loyola classes. The renovation will provide the 42-year-old facility with 114,000 additional square feet and a new exterior that is designed to be a better fit with the architecture on campus. The project also will make the facility more energy-efficient. After the expansion, officials say they will plant at least 20 trees as part of the landscaping around the building.
