Former funeral home would be the site of the school and a Civil War museum

From The Chicago Sun-Times: Plans for an alternative school and Civil War museum in Chicago on the site of a funeral home that is considered a community landmark has met opposition. Some, including the alderman, say the area has too many schools, breeding problems as students go to and fro. Others say they don’t want the alternative school’s students in their neighborhood. Prologue, a nonprofit that has operated alternative schools in the city since 1973, bought the long-shuttered Griffin Funeral Home at 3232 S. King Drive. It is seeking a zoning change in order to serve about 150 primarily low-income students ages 16 to 24.
