Enrollment slowdown in Gwinnett County (Ga.) district

Increase for 2012-13 expected to be less than 1,000 students
April 10, 2012

From The Atlanta Journal-Constitution: For the first time in at least 30 years, the Gwinnett County (Ga.) public school system is projected to begin a new school year with enrollment growth of less than 1,000 new students. The district that grew by 7,400 students as recently as 2006-2007 expects to see an increase of only 692 students in the school year that starts in August. District leaders attribute the slowdown to the economic downturn.
