Rebuilding plans unveiled for Carlsbad (Calif.) High School

$86 million project will update 50-year-old campus

Carlsbad (Calif.) High School will be completely transformed when its extreme makeover is finished in about 3½ years. The school was built 50 years ago for 2,400 students, but has an enrollment of about 3,000. The campus is a hodgepodge of buildings and portable classrooms, and parking is inadequate. The $86 million renovation project calls for rebuilding nearly the entire campus, except for two gyms, administrative offices and two relatively new classroom buildings. The football field and track will be moved and modernized with bleachers for 3,000 spectators. The architect is Perkins + Will.To read The San Diego Union-Tribune article, click here.
