Former staffers say damage could have been averted if security staff had not been laid off

From The Albany Times-Union: The flood that shut down the State University of New York headquarters in Albany might have been averted if the building still had a full security detail, former staffers asserted. No one was in the building when the flooding occurred on Sunday evening. It knocked out power, phone lines and computers throughout the whole structure. More than 500 people who work in the building in downtown Albany. SUNY dismissed its security staff over the summer as part of an effort to trim some $5 million from its operating budget.
