Center Grove board says community was too divided over $142 million proposal

From The Indianapolis Star: The Center Grove (Ind.) School Board has decided not to proceed with a public referendum on a $142.36 million renovation plan. Citing concerns about the economy and a community divided over the plan details, the board is postponing the May referendum. The bulk of the $142.36 million plan was to renovate and expand Center Grove High School. The plan also called for consolidating North Grove and West Grove elementary schools in a new building and upgrading Center Grove Elementary.

FROM DECEMBER 2008: Center Grove (Ind.) Schools will hold formal hearings on a $142.36 million renovation plan that could be put to a public vote. The proposal calls for renovating the high school and consolidating elementaries by building a new school. Eventually, the plan could be placed on the ballot sometime in the spring.
