De Paul University breaks ground on theater building

$69 million facility expected to become gateway to Chicago campus

News release: The Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago has broken ground on a new home--a 165,000 square-foot multipurpose facility. With a tentative price tag of $69 million, the five-story building will house a 250-seat theater, a flexible 100-seat black-box theater as well as administrative and faculty offices, classrooms, rehearsal spaces, design studios, workshops and the school's script library. The structure will serve as the western gateway to the university's campus in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. The architect is Pelli Clarke Pelli.
