Irving (Texas) district offers $1,000 to teachers that resign early

Quitting by March 11 will enable district to determine if layoffs are necessary
Feb. 14, 2011

From The Dallas Morning News: Facing deep cuts in state education funding, the Irving (Texas) school district is offering teachers up to $1,000 to turn in their resignations early to reduce or avoid teacher layoffs. Teachers and professional employees must turn in resignations by March 11 to benefit. In a typical year, employees often resign much later in the spring and summer because the state allows them up to 45 days before the first day of school to resign without penalty.
