Students, teachers say they feel safe in Memphis schools

Survey results differ from public perception that many schools are dangerous.

Most students, teachers and parents have a positive opinion about the Memphis City Schools, according to a survey the school district released this week. Among teachers surveyed, 89.4 percent said they feel safe in their school. Eight of 10 students surveyed said they never feel afraid at school. The survey results conflict with a long-standing public perception that many Memphis schools are dangerous.
