Woman at Louisiana State University alleges sex discrimination in police chief hiring

Lawsuit contends 22-year police department veteran was denied top job because she is a woman

From The Baton Rouge Advocate: A 22-year veteran of the Louisiana State University Police Department has sued the university, asserting that she was denied the position of chief of police because she is a woman. Major Martha Helen Haire, who holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree and is an FBI National Academy graduate, contends in the lawsuit that she was "clearly qualified for the position."
