Oct. 19, 2009

From The Memphis Commercial Appeal: LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis, Tenn., has been waiting for nearly two years on the approval of a federal loan application for funds to solve its housing shortage, administrators say. The college wants to build a 350-bed residential hall to accommodate a waiting list of students who want to live on campus. Some 164 students, about 15 percent of enrollment, live on campus in the college's three residential halls. LeMoyne-Owen has applied twice for loans from the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Capital Financing Program under the U.S. Department of Education.
