Facing financial trouble, school in New Orleans may have to relinquish charter

From The New Orleans Times-Picayune: After running into insurmountable financial problems, the Priestley School of Architecture and Construction in New Orleans is on the verge of relinquishing its charter and being run by the Orleans Parish (La.) School Board for the rest of the school year.District superintendent Darryl Kilbert says the high school's charter board has one week to secure additional funding before the district takes over. The district will be able to run Priestley, which has 268 students, until the end of the year but will eventually seek another charter operator.
