Charter in Akron, Ohio, closes

Phoenix Village Academy had only 40 students

Phoenix Village Academy, a charter school in Akron, Ohio, has shut down because of low enrollment, according to the Ashe Culture Center, the school's nonprofit sponsor. The charter school had about 40 students spread across kindergarten through fourth grade. Phoenix, which opened in 2006, never caught on with Akron families, officials say.
