Damage from coal mining keeps West Virginia school closed

From The Charleston Daily Mail: A Marshall County, W.Va., elementary school that has been temporarily closed because of nearby coal mining will remain shut while officials assess damage caused by the operati on. Tests at Sand Hill Elementary School indicate some stress cracks in the building’s structure. The school’s 56 students were moved in November to another campus so a company could mine underground around Sand Hill.
