Some districts dropping laptop programs

Providing computers to every student hasn't boosted achievement.

The Liverpool (N.Y.) Central School District, just outside Syracuse, has decided to phase out school-issued laptops starting this fall, joining a handful of other schools around the country that adopted one-to-one computing programs and are now abandoning them. District officials say there was no evidence the computers had any impact on student achievement.
