Virginia district seek more healthful school lunch menus

Baked is in, fried is out as the Arlington school system fights childhood obesity.

Next fall, students in Arlington (Va.) Public Schools will find their cafeterias' culinary scales tipped in a healthier direction, with more trail mix and baked foods and fewer fried and sugary foods. The changes reflect growing concerns among parents and school administrators across the country about childhood obesity and unhealthy eating habits.
