State control of Detroit school budget likely to continue

Michigan governor says district’s difficulties persist

From The Detroit Free Press: The shrinking $1-billion budget for Detroit Public Schools could remain under the control of a state-appointed emergency financial manager for several more years, Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm says. The governor said she expects the position will be needed because the district's crisis persists.
