Tonapah, Ariz., school gets LEED silver rating

News release: Tartesso Elementary School in Tonopah, Ariz., has been certified LEED Silver by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The 69,300-square-foot school in the Saddle Mountain Unified School District accommodates 750 K-8 students. Sustainable elements include efficient plumbing fixtures that annually save about 500,000 gallons of water, a high-performance building envelope, and the use of recycled, low-VOC, local and regional materials. The builder is Adolfson & Peterson Construction, and the architect is DLR Group.
