Oak Park (Calif.) district proposes scaled-back bond issue

$29.4 million request is less than half of what it sought two years ago

The Oak Park (Calif.) Unified School District has placed a $29.4 million bond proposal on the Nov. 4 ballot. The money would pay for upgraded carpet, paint, fire and safety systems, and cabinetry and asphalt repairs at all district campuses. Other proposed renovations include the plumbing at Red Oak Elementary School and leaking roofs at Brookside Elementary School. The ballot issue is a pared down version of two earlier measures that failed. Voters rejected an $89 million bond in June 2006 and a $71 million bond in November 2006.
