Board pulls $25 million proposal, says it needs more time to study plan

From The San Mateo Daily Journal: A $25 million bond to build an elementary school in Foster City, Calif., will not go before voters in November after school officials pulled it from the ballot to conduct environmental and financial studies on a possible site. The district has been researching possible locations for a fourth school in Foster City to accommodate enrollment growth. It has identified a preferred location, but the board want more time to study it before asking voters to approve construction.

JULY 2011...from The San Mateo Daily Journal: The San Mateo-Foster City (Calif.) School District is asking Foster City voters in November to approve a $25 million bond proposal. The money would enable the district to build an elementary school. Only the Foster City portion of the district will vote on the bond—the board has taken steps to create a school facilities improvement district that enables it to tax only a portion of the district. Such a measure requires a 55 percent support rate to pass.
