New York City decides to keep Brooklyn school open
From The New York Daily News: The New York City Education Department has backed down on closing a Brooklyn public school in the face of growing public pressure. A vote to close Public School 114 was scheduled, but was pulled from a meeting agenda. Parents had charged that the former principal had run the school into the ground, including running up $180,000 in debt that required the school to cut guidance counselors and extra tutoring programs.
