Building at St. John's University in Minnesota receives LEED gold

News release: The McKeown Center at Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minn., has been awarded LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. It is the first LEED-certified building on the campus. The center serves as the community center for Flynntown -- the university's lower campus. Sustainable elements include: diverting 378.5 tons (95.2 percent) of on-site generated construction waste from landfills; having all indoor adhesive, sealant, paint and finishing products comply with required volatile organic compound limits; use of strategies to maximize daylighting; installing energy-efficient lighting, heating and air conditioning systems and high-efficiency toilets and low-flow lavatories. The architect is Rafferty Rafferty Tollefson Lindeke.
