Renssalaer Polytechnic plans athletic facilities

Improvements represent the largest athletic facility project in school's history.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., has broken ground on the first phase of its East Campus Athletic Village, the largest athletic facilitiy construction project in the school's history. The Village will include a multi-purpose stadium, a 1,200-seat basketball arena, improvements to the existing field house, a strength and conditioning center, an administrative center, indoor pool, outdoor tennis courts and an indoor facility that includes a track and tennis courts. Public spaces will include an atrium, lobby, cafe, and pro shop. A later phase would include a new swimming and diving facility. The architect is Sasaki Associates.
