Voters decide to divide McLeod West district

From The New Ulm Journal: Residents of four south-central Minnesota school districts have voted to dissolve one financially troubled district and divide it among the other three. Gibbon Fairfax Winthrop, Buffalo Lake Hector and Glencoe Silver Lake school districts have approved consolidation of the McLeod West district into their school systems. The consolidation was prompted by financial problems at McLeod West, which will be $2.5 million in the red at the end of the year—more than two-thirds of its annual budget. The consolidation is expected to strengthen the surviving districts with additional state funds that comes with more students.
