Middle school will open in Orange County, Fla., later this year to relieve crowding

Feb. 15, 2007
School is opening two years earlier than planned.

Orange County (Fla.) school district is well on its way to opening a middle school in August to relieve crowding at Lakeview and Gotha middle schools. The as-yet-unnamed school is in Winter Garden. Its six buildings are complete and interior finishing work is underway. Originally, the district had planned to open this school in 2009, but the timetable was moved up because of greater-than-expected population growth. The campus follows a prototype design that the district also used for two other middle schools.
