Former administrator in Polk County (Fla.) district admits accepting bribes

From The Orlando Sentinel: A former assistant superintendent of schools in the Polk County (Fla.) district has pleaded guilty to accepting vacations, fishing trips, airline tickets and home remodeling in exchange for millions of dollars in school construction projects. Robert L. Williams, 67, of Winter Haven, was found guilty of one count of conspiracy to commit bribery. According to the charges, Williams accepted $40,000 worth of renovation, remodeling and painting at his house and $14,000 in trips from M.M. Parrish Construction Co. and Lloyd Whann, the company's executive vice president. At the time, Williams was assistant superintendent of facilities and operations for the 90,000-student district .
