Kansas City (Mo.) district will divide one of its high schools into 3 academies

From The Kansas City Star: School consolidation in the Kansas City (Mo.) School District has ballooned enrollment at Southwest High School from 500 to 1,200, and students and parents have complained that the early-college program is suffering as a result. So the district will divide the school into three academies, one of which will keep Southwest’s original focus on earning college credit. The second academy will offer a college-prep curriculum focusing on science and engineering. Those two academies will be offered next semester. The third division, the “Children as Individuals Academy,” offering individualized programs, which will be offered next fall.
