Norfolk (Va.) district breaks ground on preK-8 campus

From The Virginian-Pilot: The Norfolk (Va.) school district has broken ground on a new school that will be the system’s first campus built with environmentally friendly systems. The Crossroads School will accommodate students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade when it is completed in 2012. The facility is replacing an aging elementary facility. The new 145,000-square-foot facility will have sustainable elements such as a vegetative roof and a solar hot water system. Officials are aiming for the 145,000-square-foot building to become the district’s first LEED-certified campus. The architect is Mosley Architects.
