Belen (N.M.) district wins approval of $23.75 million bond issue

Money will pay for improvements at several campuses

From The Valencia County News-Bulletin: Classroom space in Belen (N.M.) schools will drastically improve over the next few years after voters approved a $23.75 million bond proposal. The majority of the bond money will go to new buildings for a district that needs additional wings at several of its sites because of expanding class sizes and a need to improve older structures.


JANUARY 2011...from The Valencia County News-Bulletin: Voters in the Belen (N.M.) district will go to the polls Feb. 1 to decide the fate of a $23.75 million proposal. The planned projects include a replacement wing at Dennis Chavez Elementary, $2 million; a new Family School building, $3 million; renovation of Gil Sanchez Elementary, $750,000; a H.T. Jaramillo Elementary classroom addition, $2 million; an industrial arts building at Belen Middle School, $2 million; and a classroom addition at La Merced Elementary, $2 million.
