Land may become high school site for Plainfield (Ill.) district

District buys 80-acre tract for future needs.
Nov. 27, 2007

The Plainfield (Ill.) School District has bought 80 acres in Kendall County that may become the site of a fifth high school or could be developed into an education complex. The $4.3 million purchase gives the district a chance to get ahead in planning for new buildings. In the past, the district has built schools almost as quickly as it could get voter approval to start a construction program, going from six schools in 1997 to 28 this year. The district has no plans to build a high school on the site and any attempt to do so would be at least three to four years away.
