San Jose State University is in the process of creating 51 “Next Generation Learning Spaces” on the San Jose, Calif., campus.
The upgrades, part of the university’s Next Gen Technology Project, are providing existing classrooms and auditoriums with high-definition audiovisual, recording and communication resources that will enable instructors to deliver instructional content. Students can view the content in real-time in the learning space or remotely or watch a recording of the content later on the university’s video sharing system.
Several of the classroom upgrades have been completed, and the university plans to have all of the Next Generation Learning Spaces completed in time for the fall 2013 session.
The improvements are part of a five-year, $28 million initiative to upgrade the information technology infrastructure at San Jose State.
