Cal Poly Pomona is constructing a microbrewery and brewery-restaurant that will give students lab space to apply what they learn in brewing class. The microbrewery, called Innovation Brew Works, will have five 8-foot-tall stainless steel tanks that can hold up to 1,000 gallons of beer, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported. There will also be a smaller 10-gallon tank so students can experiment with the many different styles of beer. Construction started in May and will continue through the summer.

Now, if only the students could drink what they brew. A proposed bill, known as the “sip and spit” bill, would allow underage students in California to taste their creations as long as they don’t swallow. The legislation would affect seven colleges.
