Construction of a new science and math center, gymnasium and performing arts facility remains on track at the University of Wyoming in Laramie.
Construction had been delayed due to harsh winter weather. However, crews have continued work inside the buildings throughout the inclement weather, according to a university public relations spokesperson.
The major portion of the funding for both the science building, which will be called the Michael B. Enzi STEM Facility after the state’s senior U.S. Senator, and the performing arts center was paid for through appropriations from the Wyoming Legislature, according to a press release from the university.
$50 million in federal Abandoned Mine Lands dollars was appropriated in 2011 for the STEM center and $14.2 million during the 2012 budget session for the performing arts center.
