Rhode Island College recently completed an $18.6-million renovation and expansion of its arts building. The school will celebrate the renovation with public tours of Alex and Ani Hall during its Homecoming weekend, on Oct. 18, according to President Nancy Carriuolo.

The updates will enable the school’s art students to work and study under one roof for the first time in more than 15 years, according to the Providence Journal.

The project included the renovation and expansion of a one-story 1958 building that originally housed the college’s first library and dining hall and was later converted into a studio art facility. The new building includes a graphic design computer lab, pottery space with an outdoor courtyard area for the kiln, a welding area and a state-of-the-art ventilation system. Other features include facilities for jewelry making, sculpture and ceramics.
