The University of Rhode Island will soon end its reign as the only public school in the country with a police force that does not carry guns. The decision was prompted by a campus gun scare in which campus police were able to arrive at the scene in less than a minute, but local law enforcement took more than five minutes to arrive, according to the Boston Globe
