Town says school can continue to build gym

Work had been halted at the Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart in Amherst, N.Y., until parking space concerns were addressed

Construction has resumed on a new gymnasium at an all-girls school in Amherst, N.Y. The Buffalo News reports that the town's building commissioner had issued a stop-work order on the project, but has lifted it now that the school is working to resolve parking issues. Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart is building a gym with seating for 500 people, a dance studio and fitness room, but adequate parking has been a sticking point. The school was unable to secure a long-term parking agreement with the adjacent property owner and needs to fit 167 spaces onto its own campus. Town officials believe the school has enough land available for the parking.
