Tornado-stricken district ends its school year early

May 22, 2013
The Moore (Okla.) district, where the school was to end this week, has cancelled remaining classes.

Campuses in the Moore (Okla.) district, where two elementary schools were destroyed in a deadly tornado, will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, the last days of the school year. The Oklahoman reports that the remaining days were cancelled after Moore Superintendent Susan Pierce consulted with state schools Superintendent Janet Barresi. Graduation ceremonies for the district's three high schools will proceed as scheduled on Saturday.
