April 1, 2013
District officials will continue to fight state's plan to place North Forest into the Houston district.

The North Forest (Texas) school district says the Texas Education Agency has upheld its decision to close the district and annex it to Houston district. North Forest's lawyer says the district will again appeal the closure order, this time to the State Office of Administrative Hearings in Austin. The North Forest school board will continue pursuing an alternative plan to let a nonprofit management board and some high-performing charter school operators run the 7,000-student district.
