Storm severely damages Center Point Elementary in Jefferson County school district.

From Alabamas13.com: Students from the Center Point, Ala., elementary school that was severely damaged in a tornado will be relocated to the campus of the nearby Erwin elementary and middle schools. The Jefferson County school board has approved leasing eight portable classrooms to help accommodate the 620 students from Center Point Elementary displaced by the storm. Officials want to have classrooms up and running by next week.

Earlier.....from The Birmingham News: The Jefferson County (Ala.) district is trying to decide where to relocate students from Center Point Elementary School, which has been heavily damaged by a tornado. The school's operations and its 620 K-2 students could move to Erwin Elementary and Erwin Middle schools or to the former Hewitt-Trussville Middle School. The temporary location will be needed until Center Point can be repaired or rebuilt. The building was valued at about $13 million and contents inside are worth $5 million.
