Area schools report more than 65,000 students were on waiting lists for courses

More than 65,000 community college students in the Sacramento, Calif., area were on waiting lists for classes when school resumed late last month. The Sacramento Bee reports that the waiting lists are a legacy of significant state funding cuts for community colleges, reductions that topped $805 million statewide from 2009 to 2012. Community college enrollment fell 500,000 during that period.
