Split decision on $892.2 million bond package in Austin (Texas) district

Voters in the Austin (Texas) district have approved two bond proposals that provide $489.6 million in spending authority to carry out facility upgrades and improvements in technology, transportation and energy conservation. However, the district says, two other requests on the ballot were rejected--a $234 million proposal that would have addressed crowded schools; and a $168.6 million plan to improve facilities for career and technical education, fine arts, special education and physical education and athletics.
