Schools in Buena Vista (Mich.) district are closed for a second week

May 13, 2013
State cut off aid payments, so Buena Vista district can't make payroll.

The Buena Vista (Mich.) School District, which shut down its schools last week because it had no funds to meet payroll, remains closed today. The district says on its web site that schools are closed until further notice. The state has withheld aid payments earmarked for Buena Vista after it was determined that the district had received state funding for a treatment center that it no longer operated.
