Proposed Texas legislation would let districts levy tax to pay for school security

More focus on school security: The Austin American-Statesman says that legislation proposed in Texas would allow local districts to levy additional taxes to improve safety at public elementary and secondary schools. The so-called Texas School District Safety Act would give school districts the authority to create special taxing districts or a dedicated sales tax to pay the costs of security.
